About the role

San Pedro Belize Express Water Taxi, which runs passenger ferry and cargo services between Belize City, Caye Caulker and San Pedro, is hiring a Captain in its Operations Department to provide safe, efficient passenger transport. The work is physically active and involves varying weather and sea conditions.

Responsibilities

Operate vessels in line with maritime regulations and company procedures
Carry out pre-departure and post-arrival vessel inspections
Ensure passenger safety and compliance
Supervise deckhands and crew
Keep vessel logs and reports
Monitor vessel condition and troubleshoot and report mechanical issues
Respond to emergencies and provide courteous passenger service

Requirements

High school diploma
Valid Belize Port Authority Captain’s Licence (minimum C2)

Preferred qualifications

Experience operating passenger vessels and supervising crew
Knowledge of local waterways and routes
Knowledge of diesel engines and marine mechanical systems
Preventive maintenance experience
